What makes us different?

1-Our classes are virtual

Virtual classes have been used during the lockdown to allow for more authentic teaching.

French A+ uses Google Classroom and Google Meet, one of the most common online learning platforms used in most Ontario boards.

This platform presents many advantages :

  1. it allows for direct interactions between teacher and students (Google Meet), and between classmates (through breakout rooms, Chats, Jamboard)

  2. it gives a virtual space to access learning material (Google Doc, Google Slides (ppt), Google Forms)

  3. it makes error corrections and feedback easy to give and receive: video, audio, Google Doc -comments, Google Form)

  4. classes can also be recorded.

2-We use effective strategies

We are 2 certified teachers with an extensive teaching and tutoring experience in Ontario and Quebec elementary and secondary schools.

Throughout the years we developed effective strategies to meet the needs of French Immersion students, Francophone students in minority-language settings, and allophones students in the Quebec educational system.

During the 2-year-pandemic, both teachers have been formally trained to teach online and have developed effective strategies to teach in both virtual and hybrid settings.

3-We fix what is left unfixed by schools

We :

  • identify and fix fossilized mistakes and teach students strategies to self-correct effectively.

  • develop metalinguistic awareness and explicitly teach grammatical rules in a procedural way (step by step)

  • enhance students' media literacy, critical thinking and expand their knowledge of current world's issues using news articles

  • improve the quality of the language and boost students' confidence

4-We offer comfortable, flexible and affordable classes

  • The virtual format reduces the amount of time loss caused by logistic constraints.

  • Students can attend classes in the comfort of their homes, without being exhausted by any commute.

  • The online format offers a lot more flexibility and students have more options to fit the classes in their busy schedules.

  • Classes can be of various length : 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 60 minutes.

  • Students can choose different settings : individual lessons or group classes ( 2, 3, or 4 students)

  • Lessons are more affordable due to the different settings

5-Our programs are rigorous and well-structured

  • We offer daily practices (grammar, vocabulary drills, text reading, writing activities)

  • Students are assessed throughout their learning (diagnostic, formative and summative tests)

  • All the language components are taught in a systematic and structured way: reading , speaking, writing are taught in a specific order.

6-The teaching content is tailored to our students' needs

  • A highly personalized Individual Learning Plan is drafted after the initial assessments and observation of school work.

  • Students received personalized correction for their mistakes and descriptive feedback.

  • Students are taught the grammatical concepts that meet their specific needs.
